Days of Glory - Indigenes

In common with many world powers, France held colonies in Africa, with it controlling Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia amongst others.

Rachid Bouchareb´s moving film explores the involvement of Algerian and other North African troops fighting for France during the second world war.

From their recruitment through their fighting in a variety of campaigns in Italy and France the film follows a group of soldiers as they confront not only German troops but also treatment at the hands of their own officers.

As war films go it´s probably one of the most interesting ones that I´ve seen in a long time, as it explores an area that had been untouched by filmmakers previously.

It would be interesting to see something similar with say the Irish involvement in WW2.

Great film anyway and highly recommended.
