Some films are simply awful. The Kingdom is one of them.
From the opening credits you know that you are going to be treated like a child. Like a child with little or no understanding of how the world works.
The basic premise of this film is that a bunch of FBI agents head over to Saudi Arabia to investigate a terrorist bombing in which one of their own has been killed.
It's a very shallow film and a lot of the plot doesn't really hang that well together.
Then again, it's probably not meant to!
Jamie Foxx is terribly miscast in his role and the script does little to help him. He may not ever be Oscar material, but some of the lines he comes out with on this outing are really terrible.
Eye candy is provided by Jennifer Garner, but since its set in a Muslim country you don't even get to see much of that either... Then again, do you even want to?
So basically you get a bunch of Americans trying to force their views and methods on the Saudis. There are a couple of vaguely interesting subplots, but overall the film is completely forgettable.
It's currently out on DVD, but I'd wait until it was shown on cable TV rather than wasting any money on it. Seriously. It's just not worth it!
Haven't seen it yet and was about to go over the weekend to see it,but after this I'll wait for the DVD.
Louie
It's out on DVD in the US already, so I think it should be out here pretty soon if it isn't already
