Crank 2 - High Voltage

Crank was explosive and completely over the top, so the sequel was going to either be a total disaster or dynamite.

It's dynamite.

Now don't get me wrong, it's not going to change your life, improve your intellect, or anything like that. Crank 2 High Voltage is so over the top that you can't take it seriously - and the makers of it would probably laugh at you if you did.

This time round Jason Statham (Chelios) wakes up to discover that his heart has been stolen (literally) and it's been replaced by a battery powered pacemaker type thing. For the rest of the film we follow Chelios as he goes to all sorts of crazy lengths to keep the heart pumping while looking for his original heart.

Some of the scenes are pretty grotesque, but the scene involving Statham and Amy Smart will put racetracks in a whole new light (watch the film to see what I mean!).

Also watch out for a lot of familiar faces who turn up in a variety of small parts throughout the film.

The US bluray release features a pretty slick interface and a number of extras including commentaries, outtakes, making of etc., Audio is available in 7.1, which is nice, though with some of the more "colourful" scenes the rich audio might not be as welcome as you might think!

All in all it's good fun - pure escapism
