This year's Oscars ceremony is only is only a few weeks away (March 7th 2010) and the final nominees are due to be announced on February 2nd.

The race for Visual Effects is now down to the last 7 films, which are:

• "Avatar"
• "District 9"
• "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"
• "Star Trek"
• "Terminator Salvation"
• "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"
• "2012"

Of the 7 only 3 will make it onto the final list!

So which ones are going to make it?

Harry Potter has spawned an entire mini-industry surrounding the books and films.

If you're a hardcore fan then this kind of boxset was simply made for you (NB: this is NOT for children)

Apart from looking really really cool there's some attention to detail that most people should appreciate. The case includes two empty spaces for the last two parts of the Harry Potter series of films.

Now the only downside to this is the cost. Amazon France is listing it at about 160 euro and it's not clear if they'll ship it to Ireland or how much shipping would cost

I'm very tempted, but unless I happen to stumble across some extra cash I will have to resist!
