Universal Inks Deal With HBO Stays Off Netflix

While Netflix may have scored a major coup with its recent Disney agreement, it won’t be getting access to Universal’s catalogue anytime soon.

The New York Times reports that Universal has just renewed a lucrative deal with cable channel HBO:

The first agreement between HBO, a unit of Time Warner, and Universal, a unit of Comcast’s NBCUniversal, came in 2003. With the extension through 2022, HBO now has the rights to about half of Hollywood big releases until then.
