Pixar’s Brave was finally released in Ireland a few days ago well over a month after its US release. For the last month I’ve had to deal with US based friends talking about how great it was, while I couldn’t see it over here!
So was it worth the wait? Well I’m impatient by nature anyway, but yes, it definitely was.
Starring the voice talents of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson and Julie Walters, the film is great fun right from the beginning.
Unlike some Pixar / Disney titles the animated film was rated PG by their Irish Film Board, as it does have a slightly darker side.
The story centres around the young princess Merida, who has the most incredible head of red hair you’re likely to see on a big screen this summer. Merida’s mother wants her to behave like a princess, while the young girl is much happier embracing her wilder side. (She’s a dab hand with a bow and arrow!)
As the story unfolds there’s plenty of action, laughs, magic and even a few tense moments. But being a Pixar / Disney production there is, of course, a happy ending 🙂
Definitely a film that children of all ages will enjoy – I know I did.
