UP, which is Disney’s new comedy adventure, will be released in Ireland on October 9th, 2009.
The film was the opening ceremony film at this year’s Cannes festival, where it was presented in Disney Digital 3-D.
The premiere, which was held last night in Cineworld, brought several of the film’s cast and crew to Dublin.
Pictured below are the film’s writer and director Peter Docter with his daughter Ellie, who voices the character of Young Ellie in the film:
Disney describe the film as a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfils his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 9-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

The Spirit won’t be available on bluray in Europe for another few weeks, so I got my paws on a copy via Amazon US.
If you’re a fan of 300, then you will simply adore The Spirit.
It doesn’t matter whether you know anything about the comic books on which the film is based. This film is all about visual and audio pleasure.
Of course, with a cast that includes the likes of Paz Vega, Scarlett Johansson, Jaime King, Eva Mendes and Seychelle Gabriel, there’s plenty of “eye candy”, but the pretty ladies aren’t the film’s main merits.
The film was almost entirely shot using “green screen” and then put together in post-production. Translation – the actors were walking around without any actual scenery for most of the shooting!
The colours palette is incredibly vibrant, with the violet of the main character’s tie in the opening scene practically jumping off the screen.
As for the audio – it is beautifully mastered high definition audio throughout.
If you want to see yet another one of those films that will truly bring home the meaning of high definition, then The Spirit should be on your list.
