Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is obviously inspired at some level by Dickens’ Christmas Carol. I say “at some level”, as the parallels are very slight.
The main character of Ghosts is womaniser Connor Mead (Matthew McConaughey) who seems to have an incredible knack for charming and bedding just about any woman he meets. He’s slick, he’s successful and he has plenty of charm.
However, when Mead goes to his younger brother’s wedding things begin to fall apart as he his forced to face the ghosts of his past relationships.
Is Mead happy with his carefree and casual relations?
He models himself on his uncle Wayne (Michael Douglas), who is the first ghost to come back.
And of course there is the love interest (Jennifer Garner).
I won’t give too much more away…
It’s not a life changing film, but it has some very funny moments and McConaughey, Garner and Douglas make for an interesting cast.
