While the behind the scenes extras on DVD releases can run to several hours of content, this short one for Quantum of Solace is only a couple of minutes long, though it’s still pretty cool.

Seth Rogen and James Franco star in upcoming release Pineapple Express. Think lots of inane jokes and gags, plenty of drugs and car chases (if the trailer is anything to go by!)
I’m probably one of the few people who hasn’t seen Super Bad, so I won’t bore you with references to it.
I have, however, seen Knocked Up and Rogen was great in that. James Franco, with 3 Spider Man credits under his belt, should impress, but I’d have to actually see the film to confirm that.
You can get a taste of it from the trailer below:

I have quite mixed feelings about Will Ferrell and as for John C Reilly, I’m really not sure.
Both actors have played incredibly funny roles, but they’ve also been in films that were a waste of time (both the mine and the studio’s).
Step Brothers, which is getting its European release tomorrow, looks like it might be somewhere between amusing and cringe inducing, though I’d have to actually give up some of my time to find out.
In terms of new releases I’ll be a lot more interested in seeing this week’s other big release: Babylon AD
Sorry!
In the meantime here’s the trailer for Step Brothers, so you can make up your own mind

This autumn should be a bumper one for owners of bluray players, as a large number of titles that were previously not available on high-def are scheduled for release. Other titles had been released on HD DVD, but not on Blu Ray.
Which titles are worth mentioning?
Transformers is one that springs to mind. While it may not change your life Michael Bay’s visual effects are truly stunning and the audio definitely sounds a lot clearer on the HD DVD release.
The Matrix trilogy is being released on Blu Ray, though for many it would probably make more sense to just buy a single disc edition of the first part (are the rest even worth owning?)
The GodFather trilogy was recently re-released in remastered edition for standard definition DVD.
New films that will be available on Blu Ray in the coming weeks and months include
The Love Guru
Iron Man (there’s a 2 disc special edition for blu ray)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is probably going to be a big seller as well and is due for US release on October 14th
You can keep track of upcoming releases easily on Video ETA

While I may not have been overly impressed with the third installment of the Mummy that doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate the visual effects and sets used.
Like so many films being produced now, the production team ran a blog throughout the filming and post-production stages of the film.
If you’re interested in stills from the film or concept art, then head on over there.
Some of the photos are truly impressive and they’ve also released a book

The Mummy franchise was quite strong until the release of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
I could attempt to come up with a more poetic way of stating this, but why bother?
It’s not a very good film.
Yes. It has some fantastic special effects.
Yes. It has quite a good cast, though I really do wish Rachel Weisz had come back. Brendan Fraser does not seem to gel as well on screen with Maria Bello.
The problem doesn’t really lie with the cast. They obviously didn’t have that much to work with.
No. It is not anything as funny as the first two films or even the offshoot, The Scorpion King.
Maybe this is all due to the change of director and writers?
Stephen Sommers knew how to make us laugh.
Rob Cohen may get you to jump out of your seat from time to time, but it’s just not the same thing.
Would I recommend it?
Maybe if you are really bored. Yes, I will be buying the DVD (or bluray), but that’s more for the sake of completion than anything else. Watch the first two films and then you can see how truly woeful this film is.
